Appleby had a strong showing in the recently released rankings for Chambers Global 2009 edition, receiving an overall ranking as a Leading Offshore Firm and having twenty-five individuals named to the lists. Described as “modern and progressive”, Chambers also highlighted the global network of offices as an “attractive advantage for corporations, individuals and families seeking legal advice on trusts and all related matters.”

Our Corporate and Commercial group continues to receive strong rankings in our offshore jurisdictions. We were ranked in the Corporate and Finance category in more offshore jurisdictions than any other law firm. Our continued growth was noted in the General Business Law category, with our Mauritius office entering the rankings for the first time in band two and receiving praise for offering clients an “international approach and succinct analysis”. In the Investment Funds category, our Jersey office maintained its ranking; while our Cayman office entered the rankings in band two as this is a new category for that jurisdiction. It was also the first year that Appleby achieved a band three ranking in the International Private Client/Global Law Firm category; the highest band achieved by any offshore law firm.

Our Litigation group is highly ranked in all jurisdictions where we practise litigation with Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and Jersey receiving band one rankings. The growing British Virgin Islands (BVI) practice was also ranked and continues to build strength with the addition of a partner and two associates.
