We are pleased to announce that Appleby has received an Honourable Mention in the recent Asian-Counsel “Deals of the Year 2009” edition, for our role in Lumena Resources Corporation’s IPO.
For this deal, Appleby acted as the Cayman Islands and BVI counsel to Lumena Resources Corp. in its listing on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 16 June 2009 with proceeds of HK$1.33 billion (i.e. US$170.2 million). Lumena Resources Corp. is the second largest thenardite producer in the world. Thenardite is a solid form of sodium sulphate and an important raw material for the production of powdered detergents, dyes, textiles, glass, kraft pulp and pharmaceutical products.
